Message from our Founder and Principal
After a career spanning over 35 years in the corporate world, working at globally referent companies like General Motors, EDS, IBM, and Unisys, specializing in business recovery and turn around, I decided to retire. That lasted for 14 months, as I kept getting calls from former colleagues, and clients, urging me to accept job offers to help them with difficult situations. At the same time, I realized that the bug for solving problems was still strong within me, and that I still had too much energy left to retire.
I was clear that I wanted to focus on solving problems. This meant, saying no to the job offers, yet negotiating a consulting role with the responsibility and empowerment to execute the changes required, to then hand-off the optimized operation. The result was that I created my consulting company and was hired as a 3rd party Interim Head of the services business for a company that was later sold to CapGemini. The project was successful, increasing the gross margins up 4x. More importantly, the key learnings from the experience were the confirmation that:
- The model worked.
- I enjoyed it!
- Traditional consulting projects, more often than not, leave the client questioning whether it was a good investment, as the execution is not part of the process, hence, it is difficult to assess the contribution. The results were tangible, and the client was happy.
- Sustainability of the delivered results require team engagement and commitment, so, to strengthen our arsenal of skills, I pursued an education in coaching at Erickson International, one of the pioneers in solution-focused coaching.
I have coached dozens of executives, from C-Level executive in some of the largest global multinational corporations to small business owners.
As projects began to roll-in, I required more resources with specialized skillsets, so naturally, I tapped into my former team and Papalardo Consulting evolved into Papalardo & Associates.
